10 Roma children included in pre-school institutions
The humanitarian and voluntary Roma association “Mesecina” from Kicevo, in cooperation with the kindergarten “Olga Miceska” and several local government representatives, started the realization of the project “Including Roma children in the public pre-school institutions”. The project is financed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and its goal is to contribute to reaching equal opportunities for enrolling Roma children at school.
The project covers 10 children aged 4-6. The activities will cover accommodating children in an environment that will enable playing, studying, living and socializing with other children. The project engages one Roma child-minder.
The association “Mesecina” is planning to realize several meetings with the involved children’s parents within the project in order to hear their reactions. “The reactions so far are positive”, says Muhamed Aloski, president of the association. “So far, parents express only gratitude for the local government’s efforts to provide free transport to the kindergarten which is about 2.5 kilometers far from our settlement.
