Project office of the Prespa Park open
The office for implementation of the first phase of the Prespa Park project was open in Resen on 6 April. The goal of this project is to prepare a detailed application in a period of one year for a long-term project that would last for about ten years. The office and the project are financed by the Global Environmental Fund - GEF, through the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, the German Bank for Reconstruction and Development, KFG and the governments of the three countries involved in the Prespa Park project: Macedonia, Greece and Albania.
The general goal of the Prespa Park project is to provide sustainable development of the Prespa basin, that should lead to improvement of the local populations' living standard, through the protection of cultural and natural values, promotion of friendship and cooperation between the three countries and smart use of the natural resources, The cross-border Prespa Park was officially announced with a Declaration signed by the Prime Ministers of the three countries on 2 February 2000.
