A tribune

Protecting the juvenile public from harmful TV programmes

The Radio Diffusion Council in cooperation with the Rotary Club “Stone Bridge” – Skopje and The First Children Embassy in the World organized the tribune called  “Protecting the juvenile public from programmes harmful for their physical, psychological and/pr moral development” in Skopje. The tribune was part of the public debate regarding the proposal-rulebook for protecting the juvenile public from the above mentioned TV contents.

The main points of the rulebook were presented by Viktor Sikov from the Radio Diffusion Council, who said that the Council completely respects the professional journalist principles according to which the electronic media individually and with a complete editorial responsibility design the programme scheme, but at the same time he takes into account the fact that it is necessary to adjust the showing of violent and erotic contents, which are a part of the of various areas  of the social life, to the audience needs and expectations. The “Medjashi” director, Dragi Zmijanac, supported the adoption of the rulebook and emphasized that only those societies which promote nonviolent, humanist and preventive measures of protection, can expect lower rate of performing violence among the young people.

Participants at the tribune were several media, institutions and organizations from the country, whose operation is of immediate social interest in this range of the radio diffusion. The public debate has been opened for over a month now. So far, the Radio Diffusion Council received only one answer and remark – that of the Ombudsman.
