Monitoring (observation/supervision) Continuous or periodical supervision by the organization’s management in order to ensure that the planned activities are realized.
Monitoring (observation/supervision) As part of the project cycle presents a regular gathering and analysis of information for supervision during the project’s realization. There is a monitoring of the: entering elements of the project (financial assets, materials, people), exiting elements/results (delivered services, products), changes (effects on the environment after the use of products/services), monitoring of the context (external factors influencing the project), monitoring of the process (potential bottle necks and important steps/critical moments).
Evaluation (assessment) Periodical estimation of a current or a finished project/programmme that gives a review of the goals’ relevance, the project’s efficiency and effectiveness and its sustainability.
Monitoring System (system for observation /supervision) A set of procedures through which information between the different levels of management in the organization are conveyed in order to support the decision making process.
Monitoring of the portfolio Regular gathering and analysis of the information from the supervision during the projects in all phases of the project cycle (from identification to final assessment) in order to control the duration, the human and material resources and the organization’s quality.
Internal monitoring Monitoring that refers to the realization of the project itself in order to inform the project manager (and other parts involved in the execution) about the course of its realization. The project managers are in charge of the internal monitoring.
External monitoring Monitoring that generally refers to the course of the project and the institutional frame within which it has been realized. The donator is usually in charge of the external monitoring and it is usually in the context of supervising and control of the project.
