NGO “CIVIL” and the citizens together

For a safer Old Bazaar

The NGO CIVIL with a British assistance and cooperation with the Old Bazaar craftsmen, the police and the municipality of Cair, including the citizens, makes efforts to make the Old Bazaar a safer place for living. Returning the life in the old part of the City is going to be realized with closer communication between all involved subjects working on the realization of this idea, which is part of the project called “Plans for a safer community”.

“We want to improve the civic awareness, to respond to the citizens needs. The project has introduced new quality and we have been declared the best in the region”, says Dzabir Derala, CIVIL President, who also mentions that the phase for dealing with the armed violence is being dealt with at the moment in a direction of strengthening the safety and the security in the communities, which is also one of the main objectives of CIVIL and the Action Group for safety and security in the Bazaar. Their very goal is to involve the citizens in those processes and to strengthen the trust and the cooperation between them and the municipal authorities.

For that purpose, at all four entrances in the old part of the city, they placed mini-billboards for informing the citizens about all the events that take place and especially about the vital interests of the Bazaar, the safe and security of its inhabitants, the citizens, the visitors, the tourists, the shopkeepers, as well as the civil society participation in the community processes. The billboards will offer information on: the everyday life of the people from the Bazaar, dates that are important for them, dates of discounts, cultural events, etc. Besides the metal framework, the billboards will also have metal boxes for anonymous communication with the police and the municipal authorities, thus enabling closer communication between the citizens, the police and the local authorities.

The Action Working Group will empty, classify and deliver the applications and the citizens’ letters to the police and the municipality. The speed and the quality of the bodies in charge reaction will be analyzed, and the results of that analysis will be announced on the four mini-billboards by the Action group.
