CIRa

A three-year jubilee

On 25 September 2006, CIRa (or, The Institutional Development Centre) celebrated its third birthday. It was a working celebration, in fact. A lecture on EU pre-accession funds was given by the organization’s managing board, that is, its president, Mr. Nafi Saracini.
CIRa was established as a result of the local people’s initiative who are employed at the US Institute for Sustainable Communities Office in Skopje, after its closing, that is leaving from Macedonia.

CIRa focuses its work on realizing two goals: strengthening the civil society in Macedonia and strengthening the capacities of the local communities for accomplishing concrete changes. The ways in which this organization accomplishes its goals are: strengthening the capacities, promoting the public participation and mobilizing the local resources for solving the local problems community level.

When realizing its activities, CIRa is guided by the principles of tailor-made programs that address the different NGO and local communities’ needs; innovation; participation; and result-orientation.

In the past three years, the Centre has implemented several projects and programmes. The latest ones cover Training for Trainers on “Financial Feasibility”, supported by USAID and the project called “NGO use the information technology for improving their influence in their communities”, supported by the “E – Macedonia” Foundation. Recently, CIRa has signed the contract for the Community Forum Program.

You can find out more about the CIRa activities on their web-site: www.cira.org.mk, or by contacting its employees at the office in “Dime Anicin” 9 in Skopje.
