Once a scout-always a scout!

In the column "People" we present NGO sector activists from Macedonia and abroad. Our goal is to present them not only from the aspect of their professional engagement, but also as individuals with their own special interests, affinities and opinions, to make them closer to the broader public, a through them, to popularize and encourage the civic engagement in Macedonia. This time, we present Mr. Martin Martinoski, activist at the OHO association from Skopje.

Professional experience: I have been professionally engaged in OHO for a year and a half as a project coordinator and implementator of projects in the field of democracy and civil society development in Macedonia. 

Engagements at the NGO sector: Since a little boy, I have been a scout (once a scout, always a scout), and my other engagements have been in other initiatives in the field of culture.

Hobbies and interests: Since recently, I have started practicing aikido.

Ambitions: To become a samurai. 

Toughest decision: I haven't made it yet.

In his free time, he reads: International economy.

I his free time he goes: To a good concert. The last one was Asian Dub Foundation.

At weekends: I relax, study and sometimes I go to Struga to a home rehab. 

Which national/local problem does he find especially important and why?
Lack of long-term vision with national politicians for the development of the Macedonian country. 

Which global problem does he find especially important and why?
Global warming, which, if continues with this tempo, will change our natural surrounding a lot, as well as the conditions of living we are used to. 

What would he change in Macedonia?
What would he change in the world? In Macedonia - the citizens' awareness that we have found ourselves in a situation different from the one in the past and that we should accept the new values and criteria present in the modern world today more rationally.
In the world, I would change the attitude of the big transnational companies towards the planet Earth.

He could never: Give up listening to the news.

Advice/message: If we al mind our own business, we could find common interest with the others more easily.
