A call from the British Embassy Grants for environmental projects  The British Embassy has sent a call for submitting pilot-projects in the field of environment within the DEFRA project. The candidate-countries for the EU should mainly focus on building capacities of the central and local governments. The DEFRA programme supports the following activities: -          emergency environmental actions -          promotions of sustainable management and using the natural resources; -          protection of the public interest from the aspect of environmental influences and the health; -          Protection and promotion of the environment; -          Raising the public awareness and promotion of environmental information exchange; -          Including the public in the decision-making process. The grants range from 5,000 to 15,000 pounds. The application deadline is 29 September 2006.
