Gender budgeting

On the second day of the NGO fair, on 4th December in organization of the Union of Organizations of Women in Macedonia (UOWM), there was an educational session titled “Gender Budgeting”.

Gender budgeting, as the presenter Gordana Trenkoska stated, represents an analysis of the annual income and outflow from gender perspective; so to say it includes the public income and outflow.

“The European women lobby, in which the AOWM is a member, gives directions for initiating the gender budget. There are many arguments for sensible gender budgeting- larger efficiency in the public spending, unequal education as a spending factor, and the conclusion that time is money. The right people for initiating of the gender budgeting are the MP   s, the Ministry of Finance or some other ministry, as well as the women civic organizations“stated the presenter Trenkoska.

At the end of the presentation, Gordana Trenkoska illuminated the tools and methods that are used in the gender budgeting: analysis of the budget process, estimation for the disaggregating users, budget disaggregated analysis of the annual incomes, gender disaggregated analysis on the budget influence, gender- sensible frame to a long-term rate, and report on the gender awareness in the budget.

The western -European countries  have incorporated the gender budgeting.
