Cooperation – to act or work together with someone else or others in order to achieve a common objective.

Bilateral co-operation – co-operation where two parties, groups, countries etc. take part.

Multilateral co-operation – co-operation where several parties, groups, countries etc. take part.

Development co-operation refers to all forms of “development help” where individuals, groups, organisations, institutions, local authorities and governments from developing countries are helped by a specialised organisation in order to strengthen their capacities, to solve problems, to create and improve the infrastructure etc. Development co-operation can include both governmental and non-governmental organisations, bilateral and multilateral co-operation, technical and financial co-operation, as well as development help provided mainly by organisations from the North. The development co-operation is directly or indirectly always aimed at people.
