The first awards for sustainable development and civil society and democracy given
In June 2001, the MCIC gave the first awards for sustainable development "Gert Jan Van Apeldoorn" and for civil society and democracy. The first MCIC laureates were Mr. Josif Tanevski (award for sustainable development and accomplishments throughout the years), Mrs. Kristina Dickinson (award for sustainable development and accomplishments in the previous year) and the First Children Embassy in the World "Medjashi" (award for civil society and democracy and accomplishments throughout the years).
Next year, 2002, awarded were: The Open Society Institute Macedonia Foundation (award for civil society and democracy and accomplishments throughout the years), HDZR "Mesecina" from Gostivar (award for civil society and democracy and accomplishments in the previous year), the association "Polio plus" and Komuna AD Skopje (awards for sustainable development for the previous year) and the City of Skopje (award for civil society and democracy, for publicity and cooperation).
